It was a beautiful morning, and I wondered where to wander. I decided to stop by one of the oldest buildings in Danbury, CT. Danbury was settled in 1685. In 1777, Danbury, a major depot of military supplies for the Continental Army, was burned down by the British and had to be rebuilt. The John Rider House was built where it stands around 1785.

Typically, photos of the Rider house are taken from the street, but I wanted a different view. I did touch up the photo to remove power cables and inlaid the plaque with the date. I walked further down the street to the Old Courthouse, built in 1899. Across the street from the Old Courthouse is the old jail, built in 1872, but my pictures weren't interesting, so I went behind the jail and found the oldest cemetery in Danbury, which is very interesting.
